On behalf of the Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association (SLTA), Welcome to this year’s Sarawak Chief Minister’s Cup ITF World Junior Tennis Championship.

 

SLTA is proud to have been involved in this event which has grown from strength during the past years and I am delighted to see some of the world’s up and coming top junior players here in Kuching.

 

By bringing top junior tennis players from other countries here, our national and local juniors will have the opportunity to play against them and hopefully improved their standards furthers.

 

From this humble event, some of our own homegrown juniors have International Tennis Federation (ITF) junior ranking points. SLTA continues to aim for bigger goals, perhaps, one day, in the not-too-distant future, to be able to play circuit host for the ITF men’s and/or women’s event.

 

On behalf of SLTA, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Sarawak Government and in particular our honorable Chief Minister, YAB Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud for the assistance rendered to us into making this event a prestigious one. In addition, we would also like to thank the Sarawak Government for the financial assistance rendered in the construction of three additional tennis courts for SLTA recently.

 

We would also like to express our deepest appreciation to all the sponsors, past and present, for their continued support of tennis in Sarawak. Your generous support, contributions and assistance has given the boost we need to host this international event.

 

To the organizing members and the members of SLTA, my heartfelt appreciation and congratulations for another job well done. To the various volunteers from the private and public sectors, we also thank you for your support.
